چکیده

Introduction: The Silverpit impact structure was discovered during 2001 on three-dimensional (3D) seismic data obtained during routine hydrocarbon exploration in the southern North Sea [1]. It is now known that five commercially-acquired 3D seismic datasets partially cover the structure and approximately 80% of Silverpit is imaged by high-resolution 3D data (Figure 1). Two boreholes had been drilled through the structure during the 1990’s. The results of detailed analysis of cutting samples are not yet available to confirm the impact origin of Silverpit. However, the morphology of the central crater-form strongly suggests a complex impact crater [2]. Unusually for terrestrial craters, Silverpit is surrounded by up to ten concentric deformation rings, extending to 10 Km from the crater centre. These rings are closely spaced in relation to the total diameter of the structure, resembling Valhalla-type craters seen on icy satellites such as Callisto and Europa [3].

Numerical Simulations of Silverpit Crater Collapse: a Comparison of Tekton

Introduction: SALES 2 and Tekton are two numerical tools that have been used to simulate complex crater collapse [1,2]. SALES 2 is a hydrocode capable of modeling the dynamic collapse of large impact craters. It has been successfully applied to the problem of central peak and peak-ring formation [1]. Tekton is a finite-element code designed to be applied to a wide range of tectonic problems, wh...

Morphology and Distribution of Volcanic Vents in the Orientale Basin from Chandrayaan-1 Moon Mineralogy

Introduction and Background: One of the most fundamental questions in the geological and thermal evolution of the Moon is the nature and history of mantle melting and its relationship to the formation and evolution of lunar multi-ringed basins. Mare volcanic deposits provide evidence for the nature, magnitude and composition of mantle melting as a function of space and time [1]. Many argue that...

Synthesis of Some New Disperse Dyes-multi Walled Carbon Nanotubes Adducts and Impact Analysis of Substituents

We have reported here a simple, low cost preparation of four new adducts from some anthraquinone disperse dyes with functionalized multi-walled carbon nanotubes in the presence of azochromophore. The structural differences between the final products are evaluated by visual dispersion test, UV-Vis Spectroscopy, Fourier transforms infrared, Raman, nuclear magnetic resonance and thermal gravimetri...

Transition from complex craters to multi-ringed basins on terrestrial planetary bodies: Scale-dependent role of the expanding melt cavity and progressive interaction with the displaced zone

[1] The observed differences between complex craters and multi-ringed basins are described and a combined ‘‘transient cavity/displaced zone/melt cavity’’ model is explored to account for the observations. In this ‘‘nested melt-cavity model’’, the increasing influence of the percentage of the target undergoing impact melting at the sub-impact point with increasing size (the differential melt sca...

بررسی پایداری ترکیب جدید سریم‌مولیبدات بر روی بستر پلی‌اکلیرونیتریل در برابر دز زیاد تابشهای یونیزان

This research work introduces a new method for synthesizing CER.M-PAN composite to be used as 137Cs absorbent from nuclear waste water. The granular morphology and crystal structure of the synthesized compound were determined using various methods such as IR, SEM and BET. The impact of important elements such as interfering ions in the uptake of cesium by the pellets and the temperature distrib...
